UEFI/BIOS Firmware Update on EKF PC6-TANGO: =========================================== A UEFI/BIOS firmware update is accomplished by programming the SPI (*1) flash memory on EKF PC6-TANGO. Follow the steps described below for a UEFI/BIOS update on EKF PC6-TANGO: - Copy all files of the ZIP archive to a bootable DOS formatted device (preferable an USB stick) - Start the system and enter UEFI/BIOS Setup by pressing key - Load system defaults by pressing - Navigate to Advanced -> Advanced System Setup -> Miscellaneous Configuration - Change setup entry Flash Controller Lock [Disable] (*2) - Press to save and exit setup - Boot the system from the UEFI/BIOS update device prepared before - When the DOS prompt displays, the update depends on the current UEFI/BIOS version: A) When updating from release #040 or older: o Press o Restart the system, boot DOS again and proceed with step B) B) Press - Wait for end of programming, view result. If an error occurs during programming (which is very unlikely), try batchfile PS.bat once more BEFORE the system is reset - When finished successfully, restart the system with either a) Reset-button (reset hole, labelled RB, in front panel of PC6-TANGO) b) A power-off-on sequence c) Pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL WARNING: Do not interrupt the programming procedure in order to avoid damage of the SPI firmware. Programming takes about 75 seconds when the 8 MB firmware binary is loaded from an USB-Stick. The new UEFI/BIOS is present after resetting the system. Note that all UEFI/BIOS Setup parameter will be reset to default settings.
